I'm in total agreement with everything you said, Weaverman. I too can understand and sympathize with every point atheists make; however I have a hard time listening when they browbeat and look down on those who believe. That's exactly the same tactic fundamentalist Christians use and you'd think atheists would know better! That's the truly wonderful thing about Julia Sweeney's one woman show: she doesn't even get around to atheism until the entire 2+ hour movie is more than half over.Cerptshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07788317865445255338noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19669102.post-71406374924128665732010-01-10T17:49:29.881-05:002010-01-10T17:49:29.881-05:00Sounds like my kind of atheist. As a believer I can understand atheists and sympathise with then (not the smug or the angry) more often than I can with fundamentalist Christians who seem determined to leave the brains that God gave them running in reverse. Was it Martin Luther who said "I believe but God help my disbelief" - worthy of the great Ingmar in WINTER LIGHT.Weavermanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09833233577048591427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19669102.post-29391399928261625572010-01-10T08:38:38.637-05:002010-01-10T08:38:38.637-05:00Well said, my friend. Yes, I guess I am ...that said, there is that dreamer in me that HOPES for something beyond the here and now. In any case, I really enjoyed Sweeney's exploration of the topic.

I did have a laugh at that line about Jesus having a really bad weekend.Pax Romanohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00951019083510283683noreply@blogger.com
