BATTY INDUCTEE NUMBER 13

TRISKADECAPHOBICS BEWARE!  We've come to the 13th inductee into my Batty Halloween Hall of Fame.  This is one I've been listening to ever since I was a little kid.  It's a classic and beloved in the staked-hearts of many.  Inductee #13 is . . .

GRIM GRINNING GHOSTS by THURL RAVENSCROFT

As long as I can remember I've had the 1969 Disney record "THE HAUNTED MANSION" starring a teenaged Ron Howard (only a year after last playing Opie on "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" and Robie Lester (Disneyland Records' go-to female voice artist) and the hapless teens who stumble into the Haunted Mansion ("There's no turning back noowwwww!").  And then, of course, there's the great Thurl Ravenscroft who has done everything from the voice of Tony the Tiger to dueting with Rosemary Clooney and Georgia Gibbs to singing "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch".  Here he sings that great ghostly song accompanied by a xylophone that quite (super)naturally sounds like someone playing a tune on a skeleton's ribs!  Listen to it now in the box over on the right . . . If You Dare!

  3. Apparently blogger is acting up again so the text which should appear under the header telling you what it is won't show up for some reason.

The painting, however, is Frank Frazetta's CREATURES OF THE NIGHT.
