SARAH AND DUCK - BOO NIGHT (2017)

 "SARAH . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . AND DUCK.  SARAH . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . AND DUCK.  SARAH AND DUCK!"

OK so this children's cartoon is frikkin' Prozac to me.  It surely must lower the blood pressure at least 20 points just listening to the minimalist but brillliant theme song alone!  And with each 'episode' only a bite-sized 7 minutes long, where can you go wrong?  This time around for our Countdown to Halloween, Sarah and her pet duck learn all about "Boo Night" while making their own Halloween costumes.  That's about it, actually.  That's all you need.  The freakin' cartoon begins in the best way possible to evoke the Halloweeny season:  "It's an Autumn afternoon and Sarah and Duck are in the garden making a path out of crunchy leaves."  C'mon, I'm gonna put that on my gravestone.  If I ever have one.  This autumny, Halloweeny boy just LOVES that opening narration.  Autumn crunchy leaves YAY-HEY!!!!!!!

Sarah jumps off the front step onto the path of leaves and makes the best crunch sound ever!  Duck jumps onto the leaves and makes possibly a better crunch noise so then there's a bit of a competition.  "Oh, good crunch!" says Sarah as both she and Duck are knocked flat on the leaves by the garden gate swinging open and a coupla kids in Halloween costumes asking for 'Boo Sweets, please'.  Not quite sure what's going on, the narrator asks what up yo and the kid explains that Boo Night is a night when you dress up and, if you make someone jump, you can ask for a Boo Sweet.  Sarah and Duck decide they want to get boo sweets too and make their own Halloween costumes. Sarah's costume is of a 'Future Fairy Crayon' and Duck's is a 'Robot Ballet-Dancing Dinosaur'.  A bug appears in the hallway -- a lady bird -- or if you're an American person, a ladybug -- and Sarah decides to make a costume for the bug too.  Hmmmm, what will it be?  A vampire butterfly pebble, of course.  Sarah and Duck (and Bug) go off into town in search of Boo Sweets!  They encounter Scarf Lady dressed as a pirate.  Bread Man has gone to a lot of trouble making tons of Boo Night baked goods.  Greedy Duck swipes Sarah's boo cake.  And Bug gets to make Boo Night extra scary!!!  Yes.  This is, in fact, the best thing ever.

I think my son used to watch it when he was a toddler.
