BATTY INDUCTEE NUMBER 11

FROM THE FIRST MOMENT I HEARD THIS SONG, IT BECAME ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVOURITE HALLOWEEN TUNES.  If you haven't heard this silly songsmith's work -- especially about the "big butter Jesus" -- you should check him out because he's hilarious.  The first time I heard this song was on a "BOB + TOM" compilation and I've been a fan ever since.  One of the best Halloween songs ever is my 11th inductee into the Batty Halloween Hall of Fame . . .

HALLOWEEN by HEYWOOD BANKS

The very music itself is some of the most Halloweenie-sounding you'll ever hear with the scraping violins that sound like something out of "Danse Macabre".  Then there's the lyrics which are both funny and melancholic; they deal with the fact that we've managed to pert-near ruin Halloween as a kid's holiday.  It's sad but true.  And that's why things like this Countdown to Halloween project are so important; we need to restore Halloween to the magical time of year it used to be and not let it lapse into a non-event where children barely trick-or-treat anymore and only adults celebrate Halloween usually just as an excuse to dress up in slutty costumes!  I mean, what would the Great Pumpkin say?!?!?!
